How can I make my chin appear more squared?
When I take pictures I dont show my teeth... i just push my lips together and I want my chin to appear squared in pictures even when i smile because i have a pointy ugly chin.
I also want my lips to look bigger .. how?
When people put up their hair in a pony , sometimes hair comes down on the sides that make it look messyish but it looks nice. Its not the bangs but its like side bangs that dont attach to your head and i wanted to know how to do that....

I'm looking for a free download or an online photo editor that will let me remove blemishes from my pictures, maybe even whiten my teeth!
I've used Picnik, but I don't have any money or a credit card to purchase and account... anyone want to lend me their account info? (sharing is caring).

My dentist charged me $12 for a single REGULAR 4x6 PHOTO (and I mean REGULAR photo, NOT x-ray), is that wrong?
While cleaning my teeth, the dentist was making small talks and even told me a few jokes. Somewhere in the middle of the jokes and the high whirring noise of the sucking and scaling machines, I heard something about x-rays and pictures and a panoramic of my teeth. I have never had my pictures taken at the dentist before, so I assumed he was talking about x-rays in general. After the cleaning, I was still a little disoriented when he proceeded to take the photos (and I mean regular photos like you and me would take with a digital camera, NOT x-rays). He took 1 of my teeth, and one of my full face. To be honest, I was a little surprised and uncomfortable, especially when he took the picture of my full face, but I thought no harm done, plus they were really nice to my 3-years old, so I just went along with it. To make a long story short, a series of x-rays were taken after the photos, then I was sent to the receptionist to schedule an appointment. And that was when the receptionist...

You should not have been charged for something you did not authorize and did not give consent for. Dentists are required to give you advance notice of these things in order to obtain your permission before it's done....especially when there is going to be a fee involved which is not covered by your insurance. Report what happened to your state dental board. If anything else shady happens with this office, go to the police. Dental offices who charge for unnecessary work without obtaining your permission are often involved in frauduelnt and unethical practices.

I do not do this routinely, but I do make photos of certain patients to help communicate something to a dental lab if I am making something for their teeth. In an examination, I would have expected MORE pictures, believe it or not. There are 5 standard views, plus smile, full face and profile that are commonly used. When the dentist can sit and review these views, it is easier to see problems than when looking directly in your mouth. This is especially true when you see them on a computer monitor! In the most weird scenario, suppose you sued the dentist saying that something or other was "never like that before," and he has a photo to show that it was. Some dentists will also afix a copy of your photo to the front of your chart so a new staff member, for instance, won't have to go to the reception area and ask your name.
In any event, I would not have charged for the photos and I agree that the dentist should have asked about this first, since he knew the insurance would not cover the service. I would always tell a patient that they need an x-ray, for instance, but still ask if it was alright to take it today.
There is an insruance code for photos, by the way. There is a chance that it IS covered by your insurance, although the existance of a code does not mean it is covered. The code is:
D0350 - Oral/Facial Photographic Images
CDT-2007 definition: "This includes photographic images, including those obtained by intraoral or extraoral cameras, excluding radiographic (x-ray) images. These photographs should be part of a patient's clinical record."
The MEDIAN fee - 50%ile - in the nation is $52! Although this does not specify how many views, I would assume that at least the five standard views would be included. Photos are essential for an orthodontist and I am sure there is a charge. Like x-rays, the charge is not really for the film or paper itself, but for the time spent studying the image to help arrive at the diagnosis. The charge for photos would be bundled into the "records visit" fee, which includes photos, x-rays and models, and the total fee would be $200 or more.
Personally, I'd ask to have the photos submitted. Why not? It is listed under "Diagnostic Procedures," and most dental insurance will cover diagnostic procedures at 100% - if they are covered at all. You AND the dental office might be pleasantly surprised.

Just give them a call and explain just as you have here, about not just the cost incurred, but their lack of information given to you as to "why" these were needed. It is very helpful in some situations, Im not sure in your situation but yes, it is done quite often. We took pictures of the full face not smiling, smiling, side view ... we sometimes took several pictures
As far as the charge - we charged a flat fee for all the "records" all the pictures and X-rays but Im sure extra was added for the pictures to be taken.

I don't think that was Britney. If you look at pictures of Britney, her top teeth are perfectly straight. The performer didn't have perfectly straight top teeth. Watch the beginning again carefully. Maybe I'm wrong, but that just didn't seem like Britney to me.

Most people have braces for 1~2 years and have retainers prior to or after the process, but it's really different for everyone. You can't really determine these things unless an orthodontist takes a look at your teeth, so again, my suggestion would be to actually go see one.

If there is something wrong with your bite or your teeth are crooked that is the only time that you need braces (I work with a dentist), now if for whatever reason you go to the dentist and they say you need braces ask about what is called "Orthoclear" or "Invisialign". Both of those work like braces but without the wires and all the other ugly stuff. They look clear mouthguards (like to whiten your teeth!) and you take them off to eat. They are painless and don't make you look wierd. Just check it out and see what they tell you.
OH, before I forget, as a general rule the Orthoclear and Invisialign cost about the same if not a little bit less than regular braces.

These are cleaaar braces you put on your teeth every day, you take them off tomeat and put the pack on, not metal, no glue, just a tooth mold that haas been designed especially for you.

Porcelain veneers!?
Does anyone have them, and if so how do you like them? I tried Zoom technology to whiten my teeth. My teeth look great indoors, but are yellow and grey outdoors. I can tell from pictures that are taken.
My teeth are straight, and I already have big teeth. Do porcelain veneers make your teeth look bigger? Do they still appear yellow or grey in the outdoors? How long do they last? And how much do they cost? How long does it take to do the procedure? How much do they cost?

Reply:i got them for my son, we let him sleep with the bottle and it messed up his teeth, so it was metal or veneers, so he had 4 teeth done and it cost 2000 just for the teeth. they look real and there not bigger. i wish i had them they look so nice.

Baby Bottle Tooth Decay?
Lately I've been hearing more and more about BBTD, Baby Bottle Tooth Decay. I have two sons (and a daughter on the way!) age 2 years and 14 months, both of which are off the bottle. I may be alone on this, but I think it ought to be considered abuse if a parent allows their infant's teeth to decay as much as in those pictures. The parents ought to be ashamed of themselves and SEE IT HAPPENING and then take them to the dentist! They also need to brush their child's teeth for them and not give a bottle or breastfeeding before bed. If a bottle is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY they should only fill it with water.
Does anyone else think that letting a kid's teeth get this bad because of the bottle should be considered abusive (or maybe better categorized as neglect)?

But let me say with my first daughter I let her drink juice out of her bottle I didn't know any better, which I regret becuz she had tooth decay nothing near or like those pictures (thank god). But she did have some work done, if u looked at her teeth u couldn't see anything but u could with xrays. But she is all better and I haven't done this with my 2nd toddler or my 3rd baby and won't! I think mothers need to be more educated on BBTD. I wasn't and I can admit I made a mistake and learned from it.

But whats even worse is when I see a child over 3 drinking from a sippy cup.. I know a woman that still has her 4 and almost 6 year olds still drink from sippy cups just because she doesnt want to go thru them spilling.. Hello, thats how they learn to drink from a cup.. Some parents have just become lazy.. They think its easier to just let them go to sleep with a bottle or sippy cup, so when they wake up they dont bother them for a drink... SAD..

I remember reading about a breastfed 15 month old who hadn't even been on solids that long but already had tooth decay.
ETA for your additional detail: I'm not sure about the excruciating pain while eating that you mentioned. I once knew a family of 4 young kids who had a lot of tooth decay. The 3 year old's teeth looked horrible but he ate and drank fine. I remember because I wondered if his very rotten teeth hurt when he ate at a birthday party. They didn't appear to. He ate a hot dog and later cake along with the other kids at the party. His 4 front teeth were almost completely rotted away.
I was overseas in the military at the time. Military families can get free dental care. The mother of these kids kept putting off sending her kids to the dentist because she knew she would be scolded for it. I'm not sure if that kid even saw a dentist. I left for the "States" soon afterward.

Do you think a dentist out there would help me for much lower rates on helping me feel good about my smile?
I have horrible decay from drinking MT.Dew all day and night and smoking. I quit the MT.Dew and am trying to cut down smoking. I am attractive otherwise but I am so depressed and my teeth are literally controlling my mood. I can't smile at all and people think I'm either bitchy, depressed, and cold and are turned off. I can't get a job like this. If I wrote different dentists letters with pictures of me and my teeth and swore to stop smoking and allow them to use me as an example of what happens if you don't care for your teeth, that they'd lessen the prices of veneer and my fillings that need replacing. I got a quote of nearly $15,000 to do all this and I can really only afford maybe $5000 if even! I am so depressed and I know this would boost my confidence in a really positive way! I want to be able to SMILE! Any other suggestions? I know I screwed up! Up until I was 19, I had perfect teeth since I didn't smoke or drink soda and brushed like 5X a day. Please help!

Something wrong with my my tooth?
I went the denist about 2 months ago %26amp; never had any problam with my teeth ever before %26amp; i went %26amp; they said they were perfect agian. but ive been haven tooth aches just now starting up on my rite side that r reallyy bad %26amp; i took a really good close up picture %26amp; on my 2 back teeth both had 1 little yellow spots or cracks or suthing. i dont kno wat it is so plz let me kno wat u think it is thanxs.

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years and I agree the bubble thing could be a wisdom tooth. The sealant is intact but it looks like one of the pits/fissures was not covered. This is a stain and should be checked for decay. If this is a cavity it will take about 2 minutes to fix because it is so tiny. The pain is probably from your wisdom teeth because they have no room to come in. YOU must get an Xray and discuss the removal soon. The pain will get worse and you don't need the headaches and jaw pain that come with waiting. The dentist can check you tooth for stain or decay when he takes the xray. I have to tell you, you picture was a great help in seeing the problems, if more people did this it would help me soooo much to give perfect accurate answers. Often what people say, is not the whole picture of the problem. You did good. Please don't worry, wisdom teeth are painful but once they are out, you will forget about it. You could also have a bad cavity or some sort of infection that has taken over your tooth. If it is an infection, you should see your dentist immediately! I would suggest getting the regular chocolate because it is very affordable, and the platinum chocolate only has a few extra features. The Regular chocolate does have bluetooth, testing, and a 1.3 mp camera, although the platinum has a 2.0 mp camera. Not much of a difference there for the price. Also the platinum chocolate has a mechanical slider, so it kinda feels like it's sliding on ball bearings. still not worth the extra 100 though. both of them can pic message, and they both get Vcast so you will always be entertained no matter which phone u pick. Really the older chocolate is just a better bargain.

The big time models have to have good skin, and retouching is expensive so agents prefer you take care of your body 100% of the time. Do not smoke either, that makes skin age faster and look dull.

I have had my dog on 10 diffrent foods. She lasted a week on each. Then I found Royal Canin Yorkie formula. She eats again. Shes been on it for months. It's made for the yorkie, it stimulates appitie, helps coat, helps lower stool odor and helps teeth.

The reason why I don't get the one that is specific to the Yorkie is because I have another puppy and she is a Peke Poo and they eat together. As I read up on gastritis, colitis and other digestive issues with yorkies I sometimes wonder if he had salmania poisoning from unclean surfaces or not properly cooked dog treats. My 6 1/2 year old daughter has left notes under her pillow requesting the tooth fairy leave a picture and phone number after she got a nice note under her pillow for her tooth. I think she wants to network. I am looking for a tasteful response.

I think the best way to go about this is to leave another note saying that fairys don't have phones and they only correspond through letters- like Santa. You could say something like "If you ever wish to write to me, just put your letter in an envalope and stick it under your pillow."
This way your daughter can write to the tooth fairy and you'll know when she does because she'll ask you for an envalope. If she puts a note under her pillow without you knowing and she's mad that the fairy didn't pick it up, remind her that she needs to put it in an envalope like the tooth fairy said. Crisis averted.
As for a portrait, I would just sketch a rough version of a fairy with wings. You could even include a note that she didn't have a photograph and that she's not very good at drawing, but tried her best.
Do what you can to enjoy this magic in your child while it lasts. Make it the best possible experience for her- she only gets one shot at this kind of stuff in life and it doesn't last very long. Remember how magical it was to believe?

Should I get braces or a plate?
Ok, I know I need braces/a plate for my top teeth. They're not crossed over or anything, I just have one tooth either side of my main front ones that are back so you can't see them, and they seriously need help!
Ok, and as for my bottom ones, they are alright, but I want them fixed, but braces are like $5000 and a plate might be cheaper, and I can't get braces just yet cause we don't have the money, cause another family member has to get an $8000 operation, which is classified as more important.
Anyway, my bottom teeth are like.. this picture. sorry it's not very good:

Ok i had the same problem... Firstly for the top veneers are a great way to go. I had crooked teeth at the top and had 3 veneers done and now my top teeth are straight. I have so much confidence to smile now. As for my bottom teeth they are very crooked and would require braces... But now my top teeth are straight you hardly notice the bottom. Veneers cost between $150 - $300 each ( Australian Dollars ) but are not lifelong. All of my top teeth looked crooked but only 3 were bad and once they did it it looked fantastic. Ask your dentist and see what they think but if there is only a few at the top causing the problem.. veneers are the way to go and they look very natural.

Reply:If you can possible hold out until you can get the braces by all means do so, I am 58 yrs old, got a full set of dentures 2 yrs ago, and I hate them, They are so uncomfortable and they fall out without a lot of adhesive, and the adhesive is yucky.,also, I cant chew as well with the dentures as my gums, Its turned my life as far as eating and being comfortable upside down, I just may have a bad pair of dentures, It looks like something costing 1200.00 would be good...by all means,,, hold onto those natural teeth, You will be glad you did,

Do I have dentin exposed?
I take very good care of my teeth and have a nice smile, but I believe I brush too hard? I have noticed some of my side teeth on both sides top and bottom I can put my fingernail on top and feel a space between my gum and the tooth? I took a picture and the picture shows the gaps yellowish. So I did research, my gums are healthy, I believe it is Dentin that is exposed because I do get sensitivity with cold foods or liquids. Can it be fixed by filling in? and is this very costly?? I am very worried and I obssess over my teeth and don't want anything wrong or ugly with them. Also I am on a tight budget. Please any info on repair and cost would be appreciated.

But please pay attention to your brushing technique henceforth to avoid any such "abrasions" on other teeth..When you are brushing your teeth with proper technique, then there are no chances of brushing the teeth too hard or too soft...it'll be just the optimum pressure....

do replace exsisting toothpaste to those types used for sensitive teeth. these types of toothpaste has got protective ions that can clog up tubules of the dentine and relieves sensitivity.

ok well she's really tall so that's not a problem, she's a 34 b and she ways about a 130 lbs. she is 14 and she really wants to model. She takes pretty pictures and has straight teeth. A little bit of acne but with a little bit of make up she looks drop dead gorgeous.She can walk in heels but she wants a check list of everything a model absolutly has to have like tpye of face,skin,body,shoe size, bra size, height and stuff like that. what is the average height for a child model at the age of 13-14? My baby girl is only 2 months and I was planning on stopping breastfeed around 9-12 months. But I love this time with her its awesome! Such a loving bonding expierence. But for some reason I cant picture her with teeth and breastfeeding? Anyone have any advice?

Benefits.. the longer you can give your baby the antibodies from your body, the better. The transferred antibodies assist with a healthier immune system warding off illnesses and diseases at a greater rate than not breastfeeding.
But I say, breastfeeding at all is better than nothing. 9-12 months is a great time length and if you don't go past that, don't be hard on yourself. I think even 6 months is great. Statistics show that only 11% of women who begin breastfeeding or have intentions of breastfeeding, are still breastfeeding after 6 months. That is a low percentage. Imagine what it is at 8 months!
Teeth are a deterant.. many babies bite. My son hasn't gotten any teeth in yet.. I dread the day he bites me but plan to breastfeed a year also. ;-)

When he did get sick with the stomach flu once, he wouldn't tolerate any food...only breast milk. I knew he's stay hydrated and get enough nutrition the couple days he was sick. It also helped me lose the rest of the baby weight. Middle of the night wakings (when they happened) were much easier as I had the boob there if it was necessary, but didn't waste any formula or milk if that isn't what he wanted.

my advice, make your own decision when you are ready. talk to her dr, your dr and make your own mind up. there are pros/cons to everything. the best advice is to take all the options and make the choice based on you and your family. im sure whether you continue to breastfeed, or you change to formula or milk(after a year) your daughter will be just fine.

I met this guy on my church youth group trip and I like him, and I want to know if he likes me. Any ideas?
I am 15 and he is 18. Is this wrong or illegal? Please give me ideas to tell him that I like him. I am not the kind of person that can just go up to someone and tell them I like him.

As to the legal question: as far as I know, there aren't any laws anywhere about who can date who (as long as neither of them are married!). There are some places where the law says that an 18-year old can't have sex with a 15-year old (though in some of those places this law isn't often enforced unless someone's parents complain to the cops), so if and when you are considering having sex with this guy (if you are still under 18 then), then you might want to check your local legal code, but until then you can relax.
Morally, I don't see any problem with a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old dating, as long as the older one doesn't use the difference in age and experience to take advantage of the younger one.
As for the finger-biting thing, either he's _really_ nervous about having his photo taken, or his finger happend to be itchy or whatever when you took the photo.

People we refer to the orthodontist out of necessity are those who will have problems with oral hygiene because they are totally overcrowded or they have issues with they way that they bite. If you got braces it would be strictly cosmetic. But I got braces for that reason. I had retainers growing up, my teeth were straight, and when I was twenty I decided I wanted perfect teeth so I got braces. I wore them for six months and I have perfect straight white teeth. It's your choice.

That depends. Do you think you need braces? If you think you need braces, then you should get them. They'd certainly help with that crowding.

Invisalign is not your only option, it's like braces but it's targeted at adults who don't want pieces of metal on their teeth. So, Invisalign IS an option, but not the ONLY option. It'd probably take the same amount of time as braces, but maybe more, because you have to remove them when you eat and all that. There are quite a few disadvantages of having them though, which you can read by following the link in "Source".
Reply:Only get braces if you don't like your smile. If you decide you do want braces, you should see at least 2 orthodontists since treatment plans may differ. You have to be a candidate for invisalign and how long you would be in braces could only be determined after you are evaluated by an orthodontist. It doesn't hurt to go in for an evaluation. I am 24 and I am getting braces and I came along this great site that talks about everything and you can also sign up and discuss all sorts of things through their forum. I wish you the best of luck.

That depends. Do you think you need braces? If you think you need braces, then you should get them. They'd certainly help with that crowding.

Invisalign is not your only option, it's like braces but it's targeted at adults who don't want pieces of metal on their teeth. So, Invisalign IS an option, but not the ONLY option. It'd probably take the same amount of time as braces, but maybe more, because you have to remove them when you eat and all that. There are quite a few disadvantages of having them though, which you can read by following the link in "Source".
Reply:Only get braces if you don't like your smile. If you decide you do want braces, you should see at least 2 orthodontists since treatment plans may differ. You have to be a candidate for invisalign and how long you would be in braces could only be determined after you are evaluated by an orthodontist. It doesn't hurt to go in for an evaluation. I am 24 and I am getting braces and I came along this great site that talks about everything and you can also sign up and discuss all sorts of things through their forum. I wish you the best of luck.

Much better than mine - mine are quite crocket :( :( , so i know what it is like to always have to cover my teeth when i am smiling, because my teeth aren't pretty. And that makes me sometimes really unhappy ): ):

People who need braces have really crooked teeth going in all directions and interfering with their eating efficiency…and making them ugly in the process and therefore self-aware and shy, feeling insecure or awkward. Some people cannot even smile…those people need braces…you do not need braces.
Some kids in middle school need braces to prevent problems down the line..the mouth is too small for all the teeth, they get some pulled out and the others repositionned. The process can last until the end of High School so they can have enough room in their mouth for all their teeth and never have the “crooked ugly teeth” syndrome.
I looked at your smile and since you’re 16, I understand what you mean: you are concerned because your smile is not 100% perfect. One of your two front teeth (maxillary central incisor) is about 1 millimeter longer than the other (which is about 1/25th of an inch) plus other slight imperfections, like the canine (the 3rd tooth from the middle) on the right (your left) which is slightly out.
If your smile were 100% perfect (I’ll give you a 96%…) , then, it would be blown up on big posters in dental offices around the country to advertise toothpaste, teeth whitening and braces…It would be on the smiling faces of those models in the magazines advertising those same toothpastes and teeth whitening.
I have a question: can you remember those faces? I don’t think so because those faces are too perfect to be original. The real beauty of a smile is its originality, its uniqueness. When I see your smile, I want to see the rest of your face because your smile is unique and I want to see the rest of it.
If your smile is perfect, it is because it was straightened or the picture itself was enhanced, digitally or whatever.
Nowadays, magazines have pictures of people who do not exist. They have a beautiful woman, a known supermodel even, and they give her a perfect skin (she could have wrinkles or pimples, it would not matter…they would be gone). Even if she’s thin, they will make her thinner on the picture. Her friends will ask her if she got a boob job, no, she did not, they just gave her bigger boobs in the picture. Even pictures of real old actress (over 50) do not show any wrinkles. Everybody has a perfect smile with extremelly white unatural teeth and you can have a tan skin, any eye colors or hair color.
Do you know who else has perfect teeth? old people with dentures…
The fact is, a perfect smile is not what you really want. What you really want is your smile. Your unique smile that your boyfriend (or girlfriend) would recognize amoung others. You’re 16 so maybe you like Johnny Depp, I hope, so here what he said : “When I see people with perfect teeth, it drives me up the wall. I'd rather swallow a tick than have that!
