Reply:the complete works of Dostoevsky would be unusual and eventually loved by the reciept, give or take 20 years. Sigur ros records would be good for getting the little one of to sleep and giving them a good musical start in life.

well you said you wanted different!
Reply:I named a star after my Godson last year. It comes with a professional chart showing which star it is, where to look etc. The company is very welcoming (they do a good job of finding a star visible on the birthdate, they called me to be sure about what I would like on the card etc).

Can't say whether he liked it yet (he's only 1!) but his parents loved the idea.

Here's the website : http://www.starregistry.co.uk/
Reply:I'm glad you are practical. I like giving savings bonds or opening up a savings account as a Christening gift. I know when my girls were baptized the silver frames and stuff were short-lived.
Reply:I've always thought anything in the Royal Doulton "Bunnykins" range of larger cereal bowls is a perfect gift. My 19 year old has used his everyday of his life, and it still looks brand new.
Reply:I have previously brought a candle, a star and a plant.
