Do you think I can get my money back?

I went to see an orthodontis they were not able to give me a quote for the treatment (braces) unless I get models of my teeth done and go to the lab to have xrays and pictures of my teeth taken.


For the models they take impressions of the teeth in the office with a gooey stuff. I decided to tave the impressions taken, however after I left the office I changed my mind because it doesn't look right that I get into start spending on something I don't have idea how much it would cost me, so I called the office to plead with them not to have the models done and credit my account for the difference of what they would charge for Only taking the impressions.


Do you think I should get at least some of my money back?


If they insist in making the models, is that something I can pick up and take to a nother orthodontist

As with every purchase you have the opportunity to change your mind, however they will have to charge you for work already carried out and materials used. From the moment you cancel they should not proceed any further. You should ring the dentist back and find out EXACTLY what they have already done and what they cant undo (for example - the casts have already been sent off and they cant stop them being made). Basically they should charge you for work already carried out and refund you the rest. As for any materials used so far i.e the casts, if they have been made and you pay for them they are by rights your property and you can do with them as you wish.





Dont forget your consumer rights are the same here as with any other purchase. However, if you need the work done i suggest you have it done and speak to your dentist about a payment plan, they should work out some sort of solution

Reply:The models are necessary for your quote. If you want an accurate quote your orth-d. needs to see what he's working with (expect x-rays, too)





As far a getting your models - that is up to the Ortho-d. If you were being a jerk when you were pleading, don't be surprised if you don't get them
