Do I have gum disease?

My teeth have been bleeding for a long time every time I brush my teeth, which i always ignored. Until recently. Now they bleed from eating, touching, or even sometimes just randomly for no reason. Some of them hurt now as well. Everything on the internet with these symptoms points to Periodontitis, but I hope thats not the case. Could it just be gingivitis? I go to the dentist on wednesday im just worried, I really hope I dont have peridontitis. I admit I never floss and often forget to brush my teeth, but that will change now. I have looked at pictures of people with periodontitis and their mouths look a lot worse then mine....but even if i have the early stages then I still have to do root scaling and stuff which is not fun at all. Could it be anything else? Im hoping its just gingivitis but that is not supposed to be painful and shouldnt bleed just from eating.

you have a bad gum problem, just by touching you get bleeding shows the severity of infection. Since your teeth hurts shows that it has become mobile. Its a clear sign of chronic to acute periodontists. You need to take some antibiotics containing metronidizol to take care of anaerobes, full radiograph %26amp; may need minor surgery.

Early-stage gum disease ( gingivitis Click here to see an illustration.) causes:

* Red, swollen, tender gums.

* Gums that bleed easily when brushed or flossed. Healthy gums do not bleed with regular brushing and flossing.

Because gingivitis usually isn't painful, you may not notice the symptoms and may not get the treatment you need. If you don't get treated, the disease will progress.

Advanced gum disease ( periodontitis) causes more noticeable symptoms, such as:

* Gums that pull away or recede from the teeth.

* Persistent bad breath.

* Pus coming from the gums.

* A change in how your teeth fit together when you bite, or a change in the fit of partial dentures.

* Loose teeth.

If you use tobacco you have a higher risk of gum disease. Your gums may actually bleed less, even though they are unhealthy, and you may not realize it's a problem until its too late. If you use tobacco, you will need to see your dentist more often.
Reply:hello. I'd ask a silly question, 'do your teeth move in your gums noiceably when you eat?' probably not. I'd suggest do do some flossing, it IS important. I'm making that you are somewhat young, with great attention toward a 'bad thing'. I have/had that too. Gingevitis and trips to a periodontist are mostly for elder people. enjoy our life. : }
Reply:It sounds like you probably have lots of subgingival tartar buildup. You will probably need some intense cleaning. If you're lucky, you may get a reversal of the damage, though I imagine you have some degree of periodonitis. I wish I could drop the bomb more easily, but...

One other thing it could be (but it's something you don't want either) is Necrotizing Ulcerative Gingivitis. This also requires deep cleaning, along with antibiotics and other chemotherapies.
