How can I create true gear tooth manually or in AutoCAD without using any LISP program?

I want to create true gear tooth using calculations manually or in AutoCAD. Please give me tutorials, pictures, or websites for this task.

How can I create true gear tooth manually or in AutoCAD without using any LISP program?
Gear design is a well known solved problem in mechanical engineering. The general equations are available in design courses in engineering curriculum such as the following from Purdue:

For helical gear, the following may be a useful reference:

With respect to Autocad, I'm not sure if they have the facilities for generating the special surfaces which are required for the best gear design.

If you have a real life application, be sure to consider material properties as well. You need specialty steel for the meshing surfaces.

Have fun.
Reply:there are a few ways to approach this.

draw a circle first and determine if you want this the inside , outside, or whatever point on the gear. The autocad "divide" command can then give you the length and number of teeth that will fit.

You can then draw one tooth as you would like it to look.

This one tooth can the be arrayed around the circle. Use the polar array command

Play with this sequence using simple squares first to get a feel for how the commands work, and what would be the best way for you to construct your gear, depending on your contraints such as number of teeth, radius of gear, etc
