What does a cavity look like?

If I were to use a little mirror to check out my teeth what would a visible cavity look like? Does anyone have any pictures so I could see?

What does a cavity look like?
If you can "see" a cavity in a mirror then it's too large....they will be black or brown. All black and brown spots aren't cavities though, they may be only stain. Most of the time we try to find them when they are small and use that little pick thing [explorer] to see if it catches in a groove or fissure or check the x-rays.
Reply:I'm sure you can find pictures online, but cavities can be so small that they are hard to see. You need to go to the dentist and get x-rays if you think you have one.
Reply:they have holes in ur teeth and u should see black.
Reply:Looks like a black spot in the hard-to-reach areas of your molars.
Reply:Sometimes, if you can see where it is, there is a grey/black dot in the tooth. Otherwise, you can go by touch alone and you can usually tell which tooth it is.
