How Should a great Headshot look like?

Here's what I think so far...





an 8x10 color headshot, glossy of course.

Now, the resume needs to be there somewhere...should it be stapled on the back of it? Or would it be better if it was PRINTED on the back of the headshot?





What else?





Describe to me the perfect headshot, realistically. Perhaps you have the perfect headshot.





Detail the most you can. Including the pose on the picture. Whether your smile shows teeth or not. Whether it should or not.

There are probably hundreds online. See what you like!





I would imagine that now lots of actors are having their resumes printed on the back. In my day, they would simply staple them.





Do a "Google Images" on the word "headshot" and see how many you get!
Reply:Spend more time in acting classes than your concern with headshots! The industry does NOT use color headshots. Black and whtie Head shots are the industry standard for actors!





Don't worry about the perfect headshot, you are NOT the photographer. Headshot photogaphers know the look the agent wants.





When you get an agent he or she will decide if you can use the headshot you have or get new photos. Don't spend money on headshots until you get a Talent Agent.





Yes, the headshot is stapled to back of the photo. Stop pulling the cart before the horse. You have a long way to go.
Reply:At a forty five degree angle to the nose. Approximately.
Reply:Have it done by the police department, the mug shots always look perfect. They attach the rap sheet under separate cover. Don't forget to include all known alias's AKA's.
Reply:First, you CAN have headshots without a talent agent. A lot of students (of dance, theatre, or music) often have headshots...they're nice to have for any audition and show that you're ahead of the game.





B%26amp;W is a must. Make sure they're good and clear. Don't print your own on a crappy printer, they must be of the highest quality. Resume either stapled or printed on the back.





I like seeing teeth in a smile unless you're going for a mysterious look. I think in general you want an "any guy/girl" kinda look in your headshot...you want a picture that the casting agent can look at and see you in whatever role they're casting. No facial hair. Clean cut and tidy. A good photographer will help you immensely...try for one that has skill with headshots (not glamour shots or anything like that.)

By the way, headshots no longer must be black and white. In fact, the only people who still use black and white are theatre actors and perhaps actors in smaller cities. In LA and NYC, you need color shots to come off as professional.
