Is my puppy teething?

he is 12 weeks old now (3 months) and everywhere I look it says most puppies teeth at 4 or 5 months. He chews on everything but since I just rescued him and received him on Tuesday (april 1) I dont know if he lost his teeth already. His teeth are really tiny. I have added 2 pictures. Any help?

Is my puppy teething?
I breed dogs and I would say that your puppy is teething. Like most animals puppies can teeth at different ages depending on how well developed he/she is. Normal time could be about four months but it won't hard your puppy to be going through this teething process early.
Reply:yes he can cut teeth for some time
Reply:Since your new pup is a rescue it will be difficult to tell his exact age. Also, depending on his breed or mix of breeds, he may teeth sooner or later than what is "normal." Once his teeth start to fall out he should loose them over the course of 1 to 2 weeks. Be sure to give him plenty of toys to chew on with varying textures and densities, and playing tug-of-war with him using a thick rope toy will help the loose teeth to come out in the toy and on the floor instead of in his mouth and into his tummy!

Looking at the pics, it looks like his teeth ARE rather small for his mouth, and there is a lot of space between them, which probably means that these are still his baby teeth and they will loosening soon. As long as he is eating well and playing normally he is fine. If you notice that he seems to be having difficulty eating be sure to check his mouth for any abnormalities. He should get through this tooth transition just fine, though. You're probably much more concerned about it than he is!

Just remember, pups are like kids - no two are alike, and what is "normal" will be different for every one. Sounds like your pup is doing just fine.

Good luck!
Reply:he's teething or bored, either way hide the shoes
Reply:I can tell by the first pic that the pup still has its puppy teeth.

Yeeouch!

Patience and time, along with a few good chew toys for the little guy.
Reply:Yes, he probably is. To help him, buy him a Kong %26amp; fill it with the Kong fill or peanut butter %26amp; freeze it. That will help him. He is staying so still when you are looking at his teeth! What a good puppy!
Reply:Some dogs loose there teeth later in life, there very hard to tell at exactly what age they loose because dogs tend to swallow there loose teeth.

Normaly Beginning around three months of age, puppies start to lose their first set of teeth. The first ones noticed are usually the pointier canines, when an owner notices blood on chew toys. Many times an owner won't even realize his puppy has started to shed teeth.

Your puppy is teething.its normal.
Reply:Oh, yeah! He's still got those sharp little puppy teeth. He's probably teething. Give him a Kong filled with peanut butter and he'll be happy for hours - and your shoes and furniture will be safe.
Reply:Puppies can teeth nomatter what age. He may just be bored with his teeth. You should buy him some toys if you haven't already. Bones work good too. Just don't get pig ears or hooves. When a dog bites them, they turn into sharp eges, and if swallowed, could cause internal damage. Watch, and see if he has lost any teeth. Look on the floor, and in his cage ( if you have one ), and if you find any, pick them up, and don't let him swallow them. The only way for sure to know if he is teething, is to check in his mouth for open gaps.
Reply:His puppy teeth have probly come in already so he's not really teething yet. He's just doing stupid puppy stuff. Keep him and your things safe by keeping them out of reach. He's really cute!!!!
Reply:Oh yes! See the slight swelling and redness around the edges of the biggest tooth? (That's his canine tooth, his baby one). That's early teething. It's sore. The adult tooth is beginning to put pressure on that tooth and it hurts. Chewing on anything beats that nagging ache in his mouth.

(Thanks for the pics! You're too cute!)

I've had this around for years and every new dog learns about it right away and the all love it: I collect doggie toys of all kinds (no rubber toys though....choking hazard): rope pulls, soft balls, tugs, fuzzy tosses, fuzzy squeekies, natural bone, nylon bone, cow hooves (throw them away when they're about 1/2 gone). In the "gathering room" of the home (where everyone, and the dogs hang out) I have an old milk crate where all the dog toys live. This gives me a place to keep them and they know what's theirs and where to find it.

Anything not fair game should be put out of reach till your pups' about 10 months old. Slippers, craft (yarn, string) balls, shoes, kid toys are all going to look like good toys to the dog.

At this age, I know they don't know any better and their going nuts with their teeth, so I just grab a dog toy, go to the dog and calmly remove the non-toy with a soft, low growl and then happily give him the acceptable dog toy, "Yea, that's it! Good dog!"

Lots of stuff to chew on and gentle, consistent guidance.
Reply:Puppies start losing their teeth at 4 months.By 6months they

will be gone and adult teeth will start coming in, Give him

plenty of milkbones and hard toys. Stay away from rawhide.

They get dirty and slimy.
